The OpenIFS User Forum has now been merged into the ECMWF Forum on our new platform at http://forum.ecmwf.int/.
The old Confluence-based forum, here on this page, has been frozen and is now read-only. It will shortly be comitted to archive.
Further details:
The OpenIFS User Forum has been a available to the model's user community for many years. It has provided a means for users to exchange questions and experiences, allowed the broadcasting of OpenIFS-related announcements, gave support with answers to frequently asked questions, and served as a platform for discussion of model-related topics.
Recent changes in software licensing resulted in access restrictions, allowing only ECMWF users with a Confluence licence to generate new posts on the forum. Also, in recent years we found that questions aimed at the OpenIFS community frequently related to other working areas in ECMWF.
In order to modernise the OpenIFS User Forum and to allow better connection with other working areas of ECMWF, the OpenIFS User Forum has been migrated to the new ECMWF Forum https://forum.ecmwf.int/.
Anyone who has an ECMWF user account (user-ID) can post on the ECMWF Forum (need to register for an account? see here). All forum posts are categorised and will be issued with searchable tags. Forum users can subscribe to any categories or tags of their interest, and these now also include OpenIFS-related tags and categories. As part of the migration all previous OpenIFS-related posts and discussion threads (except old announcements) have been retained in their relevant categories and provided with appropriate tags.
The old forum pages will soon be moved to the Confluence archive and will then no longer accessible to outside users.
We look forward to more engaging discussions on the new forum pages!
