Please note the following announcement regarding ERA-Interim.

Dear ERA-Interim user,

This message is to inform you of our plan to stop the production of ERA-Interim later this year.

As you may be aware, ERA-Interim has been superseded by the latest higher resolution hourly reanalysis dataset available: ERA5. See What are the changes from ERA-Interim to ERA5 and ERA5-Land?

ERA5 is currently available for the period 1979 to present and will be extended from 1950 to present. ERA5 preliminary data (referred to as ERA5T) are also planned to be released later this year. ERA5T is to be published daily, a few days behind real-time.

As ERA5 is now available, we are preparing to stop the production of ERA-Interim on 31st August 2019. This means that the complete span of ERA-Interim data will be from 1st January 1979 to 31st August 2019. Keeping in mind that ERA-Interim is published with an offset of about three months from the dataset's reference date, ERA-Interim August 2019 data will be made available towards the end of 2019.

For the time being and until further notice, ERA-Interim shall continue to be accessible through the ECMWF Web API.

Alternatively (and in particular for those who will need reanalysis data beyond August 2019), we encourage you to move over to using ERA5, now available for download from the Climate Data Store (CDS), provided by the Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3S) at ECMWF. Guidelines on how to download ERA5 are available from the Knowledge Base article linked below:
