The following is a description of GloFAS v4the latest operational release of GloFAS (v4.4, available as fully operational GloFAS from 10 September 2025.), which was launched on 10 September 2025. For an overview of other GloFAS releases, please see: GloFAS versioning system.

Summary

GloFAS v4.4 introduces several minor changes to the system, including:

• Inclusion of ECMWF's AIFS Single model in GloFAS. Input needed from Nicola Martin and Ervin Zsoter  
  • Documentation about the operational release of ECMWF's AIFS model, including information on versions, is available on this dedicated AIFS webpage.
  • AIFS Single replaces the ECMWF Deterministic (ECMWF Det.) model in the meteorological forcings of EFAS
  • description of meteo forcings:placeholder - GloFAS meteorological forecasts, updates needed in ECMWF IFS versions and ECMWF AIFS versions
  • link to AIFS documentation from ECMWF.
  • AIFS Single replaces the ECMWF Deterministic products in EFAS-IS:Descriptions of new reporting points and AIFS flood probability layers. In placeholder - GloFAS Reporting Points, remember to explain the overlapping WB dots (due to ordering). Input from Juan Pereira Colonese 
    • in the Hydrological tab, there is a new return period exceedance layer based on AIFS Single: placeholder - GloFAS Hydrological Products Overview
    • in the Meteorological tab, AIFS Single replaces the Acc. Precip. Det. ECMWF product: GloFAS Meteorological Products Overview
    • in the Flood Summary tab, the Reporting Points products have been updated to include the AIFS Single model: placeholder - GloFAS Reporting Points Input from Juan Pereira Colonese

This upgrade of GloFAS has no impact on the GloFAS modelling results.
