title14-06-2024 ECCC system change

The ECCC model has been upgraded to the new version GEPS 8 since the 11th June 2024  with the main changes related to S2S outputs:

  • the version of the GEM model is upgraded to 5.2 with more advanced physics
  • the atmospheric model horizontal resolution is increased from 39 km to 25 km
  • the time range is extended from 32 days to 39 days
  • the forecast frequency is increased from once per week (Thursday) to twice per week (Monday and Thursday)
    • the first S2S runs affected are on 13/06/2024

title14-05-2024 New CNR-ISAC fixed reforecast set

The new fixed reforecast set (model version date 2023-10-16)  was added to S2S archive.  More information can be found in CNR-ISAC Model 

Technical issue affecting occasionally some gridpoints was identified and described in Issues with data

title12-04-2024 CNRM model grid encoding issue

After the latest CNRM model change in October 2020, the CNRM grid is inverted, i.e. j-dimension scans positively (south to north) instead of negatively (north to south) as required for the S2S.

title07-03-2024 Leap year 2024 in on-the-fly reforecasts

Four centres CMA, ECCC, ECMWF and RHMC had to figure out how to produce on-the-fly reforecasts for Thursday 29 February 2024.
