title06-09-2024 CNR-ISAC system change

The CNR-ISAC realtime forecast outputs have been updated in the S2S archive since the 5th September 2024  as follows:

  • The lagged ensemble configuration is changed: 
    • it now uses
      • 10 perturbed initial conditions every 6 hours, taken on Wednesday at 06, 12, 18Z respectively and on Thursday at 00Z (with control run on Thursday at 00Z)
    • instead of former
      • 10 perturbed initial conditions every 6 hours, taken on Wednesday at 00, 06, 12, 18Z respectively (with control run on Thrusday at 00Z)
  • The time range is extended from 32 to 35 days
  • The output frequency for 10u/v parameters is increased from 24- to 6-hourly

The related new set of the fixed reforecasts (model version date 2023-10-16) has already been added earlier this year in May.

title28-08-2024 IAP-CAS system change

The IAP-CAS model has been upgraded to the new version CAS-FGOALS-f3 since the 21th August 2024  with the main changes related to S2S outputs:

  • ensemble size of the real-time forecasts increased from 16 to 49
  • ensemble type was changed from the time lag to the EOF  modes
  • 2 ocean variables were newly added to the model outputs (Eastward sea water velocity, Northward sea water velocity)

The related new set of the fixed reforecasts will be added soon.

title14-06-2024 ECCC system change

The ECCC model has been upgraded to the new version GEPS 8 since the 11th June 2024  with the main changes related to S2S outputs:

  • the version of the GEM model is upgraded to 5.2 with more advanced physics
  • the atmospheric model horizontal resolution is increased from 39 km to 25 km
  • the time range is extended from 32 days to 39 days
  • the forecast frequency is increased from once per week (Thursday) to twice per week (Monday and Thursday)
    • the first S2S runs affected are on 13/06/2024

title01-06-2023 KMA system change

The KMA model has been changed since the 1th June resp since the 17th August 2023 for the real-time resp reforecast ouputs with the main changes related to S2S:

  • eps ensemble size of the real-time forecasts increased from 4 to 8
  • eps ensemble size of the on-the-fly reforecasts increased from 3 to 7
  • 9 ocean parameters added as per Provided parameters
