The following is a description of the pre-operational release of EFAS v5.2, which will be made available from 04 July 2024 in a test phase. EFAS v5.2 is expected to be launched operationally in August 2024. For an overview of other EFAS releases, please see: the EFAS versioning system.
To test the pre-operational EFAS v5.2 version, you must access the EFAS Stage Platform: https://stage.efas.eu/efas_frontend/#/homeen
Please submit any feedback you have on EFAS v5.2 updates using the EFAS feedback form: https://european-flood.emergency.copernicus.eu/en/form/feedback
Summary
EFAS v5.2 introduces several minor changes to the system, including:
- Revised Notification criteria for Formal and Informal notifications:
Reporting point updates: label change, probability tables updates, updates to hydrographs, Juan Pereira Colonese & Corentin Carton de Wiart changes also need to be made in: placeholder - EFAS Reporting Points page. Reporting points alert levels are now based on the new total probability. For each point new total probability tables and combined hydrograph are shown- optimized Optimised criteria for the issue of Formal and Informal notifications are based on a new methodology for the computation of the total probability of exceedance of the 5r 5 yr RP threshold of the grand ensemble encompassing all Numerical Weather Predictions.
- improved Improved definition of the area of validity of Formal and Informal notifications.revised
- Revised layers in the EFAS Map Viewer: link to new calculation page: placeholder - EFAS 5-year exceedance probability and placeholder - EFAS Flood Probability
- (a) 5-year exceedence < 48 h and 5-year exceedence > 48 h replaced the layers Flood Probability < 48 h and Flood Probability > 48 h, respectively;
- (b) Flood probability layer replaced the former Flood probability persistence layer;
- (c) Reporting Points pop-up window has been updated to show total probability and grand ensemble.
- Improved EFAS notifications email to include
- improved EFAS notifications email to include a link to a preview feature in the Notifications ArchiveDimitar Tasev
- optimized Optimised criteria for the issue of Formal and Informal notifications are based on a new methodology for the computation of the total probability of exceedance of the 5r 5 yr RP threshold of the grand ensemble encompassing all Numerical Weather Predictions.
- FID now on rapid impact assessment layer? Dimitar Tasev
- .
- Stations metadata updates - Stations metadata have been updated to better align them with the hydrological data collected by EHDCC. Cinzia Mazzetti
Update flood protection dataset for the EFAS Rapid Risk Assessment, - Calum Baughcheck if only internal?- Major rivers layers Juliana Disperati / Dimitar Tasev to explain changes 'new' ftp process for EFAS? Arthur Ramos to confirm
- Updated flood protection levels layer using new information in EU member states
- Updated Major Rivers layer derived from 4 different datasets: FAO AQUASTAT, EU hydro, Natural Earth, and GRDC; improved visualisation of river network and river names.
- Updated documentation on FTP Access
This upgrade of EFAS has no impact on the EFAS modelling results.
