Accurate representation of the rainfall-runoff processes in different climatic and socio-economic contexts requires a set of maps showing the morphological, pedological, vegetation, land use, land cover characteristics of the catchments. About 80 implementation maps are required as input to LISFLOOD OS. 

CEMS-Flood land surface data are all the maps required by the spatially distributed hydrological model LISFLOOD. They include information on the topography and the rivers (e.g. Digital Elevation Model, drainage network, location of lakes and reservoirs, channel width etc..) and on the land (typical on soil and vegetation). These maps are generally referred to as "static maps" or "surface fields", they are generated from European and global databases.

Implementation datasets 

  • 5 km European domain and 0.1 degrees global domain resolution datasets are used to implement EFAS and GloFAS, up to versions EFAS v4 and GloFAS v3. Information on these legacy datasets are available from Burek et al. 2014, Bänziger 2018, Arnal et al. 2019.
  • 1 arcmin European domain and 0.05 degrees (or 3 arcmin) global domain resolution datasets are used to implement EFAS and GloFAS starting from EFAS v5 and GloFAS v4. Detailed information about these higher resolution datasets is available from
