The Global Flood Awareness Systems (GloFAS) and the Global Flood Monitoring (GFM) are operational services for decision makers under the Copernicus Emergency Management Service (CEMS). Key users include national and regional water authorities, water resources managers, hydroelectric power companies, civil protection and first line responders, international humanitarian aid organisations and the EU’s Emergency Response Coordination Centre (ERCC).

Both services are available 24/7/365. GloFAS provides a 30-day forecast lead time and a 4-month seasonal outlook. GFM provides the latest available imagery for each Sentinel-1 satellite overpass, meaning that monitoring data are not always available for every time step in the calendar. There is an 8-hour lag between satellite data acquisition and map production.
