The native storage and download format for all ECMWF data is the GRIB format. Alternatively you can download data in the NetCDF format, in this case the data is internally converted from GRIB to NetCDF before the download. Note that he NetCDF version contains fewer parameters (variables) and incomplete metadata and is not formally supported by ECMWF.
Please check if your software application supports the GRIB and/or NetCDF formats before downloading data. If it supports both, use GRIB.
