Once you login into your VDI system two things can happen

• You have a pre-existing session running in the VDI server, in this case you will connect to it, and will appear as you left it last time
• You don't have a session, in which case a new one will be created for you.

Do keep in mind that your $HOME and $PERM will persist across multiple sessions but any other files changed in other filesystems will not.

The running sessions will persist until:

• The first Thursday of every month. At this restart new images will be applied with the latest updates and security fixes

For the Member State VDI service we expect to have a higher numbers of concurrent sessions, so for the purpose of resource optimisation they will also be closed if

• No client (web of VMware Horizon Client) has connected (or remained connected) to that session for the last 5 days.
