The Machine Learning (ML) Pilot Project kick-off meeting took place in Reading on 3rd-7th June 2024. The meeting consisted of work package discussions, presentations from Met Norway and EUMETSAT, training from ECMWF staff, and a 1-day hackathon. The hackathon saw participants building their own ML-ready datasets and training LAM models using the Anemoi and ai-models software packages.
During the meeting, the Anemoi Technical Group was established, which will enable the joint development of Anemoi software packages with contributing members. Commitments were also made to engage in frequent discussions via Slack and bi-weekly meetings, to continue progress on work packages. More details about the workshop can be found at the event page.
