Logging in from the CLI (robot accounts)

The recommended way to login via CLI or in automated pipelines is to use a robot account, which is a non-human identity scoped to specific permissions.

In order to create a new robot account:

  1. Open a project → Robot Accounts → New Robot Account.
  2. Give it a name and an expiration time :

  3. Set the minimum permissions it needs (e.g. push and pull for one project/repository):
  4. Click "Finish" and then copy the generated token immediately — it is shown only once.

Once created the robot account can be used like any other login from a container engine platform, e.g. via docker or podman:

Docker

$ docker login registry.europeanweather.cloud -u 'robot$myproject+robotname' -p '<robot-token>'

Podman

$ podman login registry.europeanweather.cloud -u 'robot$myproject+robotname' -p '<robot-token>'
