One of the improvements provided by the migration from TAC to BUFR for upper air reports is the presence of coordinates and time for each point of the ascent. This is expected to improve the forcast performance due to a better location in space and time of the observation. Given the increasing resolution of the current global, regional and local forecast models an ascent can span several grid boxes and the correct position of the observation is becoming a significant factor for improved forecast performance.

We report in the following links the stations providing upper air reports with and without space-time coordinates for the ascent.
