Practicals

Practical exercises

The theme of the

practicals

exercises this year is convection and we will be looking at case studies of tornado formation in the USA and convection over Africa. To get the most benefit from these

practicals

practical exercises we recommend some revision on convective theory. A good starting point is the ECMWF training course notes by Peter Bechtold on 'Atmospheric Moist Convection' found here: http://

The practicals exercises will take place in the computer classrooms at the Dept. of Meteorology If anyone would like to work through the practicals exercises with their laptop, wireless access at the Department can be provided. To run the practicals exercises you will need the latest version of the VirtualBox or VMplayer software installed.
