A new operationally monitored production suite will replace experiment g6ek the current pre-operational suite as provider of GFAS products on 30 April 2018. The major benefit should be a generally improved reliability 03 July 2018. This change is transparent to CAMS GFAS users, but will provide an improved availability and timeless of GFAS products. Additionally, these changes will be noticed by users:Aligned with this system change, the following should be noted:

  • The old MACC_GFAS  directory on the ECMWF ECPDS ftp server Old dissemination stream MACC_GFAS (linked to experiment version ID g6ek) will be phase out  discontinued (see Service change September 2017).
  • Experiment g6ek will eventually be eventually stopped and its data might not be archived in mars MARS after 30 April 03 July 2018.
  • The dissemination stream The CAMS_GFAS directory on the ECMWF ECPDS ftp server (linked to experiment version ID 0001) directory will contain the following new files , for additional parameters "Altitude of plume bottom" and "Injection heigh", in grib and NetCDF format.

  • "Injection heighheight" (parameter 60.210) is only defined for ecCodes package, version 2.7.0. You will need this version of the package to decode a grib file containing this parameter.
  • Public dataset The cams-gfas web interface will show the additional parameters "Altitude of plume bottom" and "Injection heigh"height".
  • All GFAS data will be archived under experiment ID 001 (class=MC) only and can be accessed using the WebAPI scripts.
