000420

You can download it here.

This release provides support for octahedral reduced Gaussian grids, including the upcoming release resolution O1280 (Gaussian Grids supported by MARS and ProdGen). Also together with this preview is BUFR tables version 000406. To take full advantage of this preview, you should combine it with FFTW (fftw.org), which is a requirement for SH to octahedral interpolation. It requires grib_api/1.14.2.

In this preview release some Some unit tests fail , when comparing interpolation results (wrong GRIB header key) to reference data. These , on the encoding of a specific GRIB header key (longitudeOfLastGridPointInDegrees) and will be resolved on grib_api/1.14.3. The affected tests are:

  1. intuvp2_sh_vod_to_O80_compare
  2. intf2_sh_2t_to_O80_compare_cmp
  3. intf2_sh_vod_to_O80_compare_cmp
  4. intf2_sh_z_to_O80_compare_cmp
  5. intf2_N640_to_O80_compare
  6. intf2_O640_to_O80_compare_cmp

From version 000400 onwards, the way the Emoslib library is compiled has changed. We now use CMake to detect system specific settings and generated the Makefiles to compile the library. Please consult the new installation guide for more details. This brings the installation of Emoslib in-line with other software packages from ECMWF.Since these are major changes we have decided to provide this first version as a preview and invite users to comment.
