What is the OpenIFS Data Web Portal

One of the most pressing difficulties OpenIFS users face is to create initial conditions to start a model experiment. Currently the users contact the OpenIFS team for support and request initial data.

The OpenIFS Data Web Portal allows users to produce accurate initial experiment data through a consistent and traceable method and removes the need to contact OpenIFS support. It provides one common system that is available to both ECMWF staff and the external OpenIFS users everywhere.

After an initial pilot phase it is planned to expand this web-based facility to include additional functionality by offering a wider range of data types and by providing access to OpenIFS training data.
