OpenIFS

OpenIFS is an ECMWF project that provides an easy-to-use academic version of the IFS forecast model.

This user meeting brings together OpenIFS/IFS users and interested parties from Universities, National Met Services and other organisations.

Programme

The theme for the workshop this year will be 'Uncertainty in NWP'.

Keynote presentation: Prof Tim Palmer, University of Oxford/ECMWF.

A more detailed programme will be available closer to the meeting date. This meeting, unlike previous workshops, is an opportunity to visit ECMWF and learn more about our activities

The programme will consist of lectures and presentaions by OpenIFS and IFS users, practical sessions exploring the use of ensembles with OpenIFS and stochastic physics with the single column model. Training will also be given on the Metview visualisation and analysis desktop.

The workshop will include social events and a tour of ECMWF facilities.

The number of participants it limited to 30 due to the size of the classroom at ECMWF.

Venue

Please note this meeting will be held at ECMWF and not at the University of Oxford.
