What's wrong?
An error has been detected affecting the following data in the climate data store (CDS):
- Dataset: ERA5 hourly data on pressure levels from 2000 to present
- Parameters: U-component of wind, V-component of wind
- Affected period: 1/1/2000 - 31/12/2008 and 1/6/2018 - present
This problem was caused by the computation of U/V from grid-point Vo/D, but it should be done from Vo/D in spherical harmonics representation.
What do I do if I downloaded the wrong data?
Because this error has not been fixed yet, this means that any data corresponding to the description above which have been retrieved so far is wrong, and will continue to be wrong until a fix is in place. You should not use this data and wait until the problem is fixed.
When will the issue be fixed?
It is estimated the problem will be fixed before the end of November. Exact details of when the problem is fixed will be provided in the page.
