Dear European Weather Cloud user,

As previously announced, the Morpheus portal used to manage your cloud infrastructure will be retired in December 2026. The alternative, the OpenStack Horizon Dashboards, has been available for several months as the new web interface to operate the EWC cloud resources, with the Openstack Command Line Interface (CLI) access also available and the EWC Community Hub and CLI providing customisable application blueprints and additional features.

How does it affect you?

From 1st of December 2026 you will no longer be able to manage your cloud infrastructure, instances and storage using Morpheus.

If you are using the ECMWF side of the EWC, existing resources will not be deleted, but you will need to use the replacement methods to manage them or create any new resources.

EUMETSAT side of EWC is migrating to a new OpenStack cloud infrastructure. If your resources sit on that side, your transition from Morpheus to the new tools goes hand in hand with your move to the new cloud. If you didn't complete the migration yet, you are strongly encouraged to complete it before end of November 2026 as well.

What do you need to do?

If you have not started transitioning from Morpheus to the new way of working, now is the time to ensure you are set up correctly and that you can create and manage the resources using the capabilities of OpenStack Horizon.

For tenant admins: management of users and more

Tenant administrators have the ability to manage user identities, roles, and access permissions through their EWC IAM Keycloak Admin Console at https://iam.europeanweather.cloud/admin/*tenancy-name*/console/ (replace tenancy-name by the actual name of your tenancy). Once there, you may create additional users, update or delete existing ones, as well as manage their roles and credentials.
