OpenIFS user meeting 2015

OpenIFS

OpenIFS is an ECMWF project that provides an easy-to-use academic version of the IFS forecast model.

This user meeting brings together OpenIFS/IFS users and interested parties from Universities, National Met Services and other organisations.

Programme: Uncertainty in NWP

The theme for the workshop this year will be 'Uncertainty in NWP'.

Keynote presentation: Prof Tim Palmer, University of Oxford/ECMWF.

A more detailed programme will be available closer to the meeting date. This meeting, unlike previous workshops, is also an opportunity to visit ECMWF and learn more about our activities

The programme will consist of lectures and presentations by OpenIFS and IFS users, practical sessions involving running ensembles and stochastic physics with OpenIFS and the single column model. Training will also be given on the Metview visualisation and analysis desktop.

The workshop will include social events and a tour of ECMWF facilities.

Audience

The workshop is intended for those interested in OpenIFS and learning more about the model for ensemble modelling. We welcome new and existing users. The workshop is also a networking opportunity to meet with other scientists from across Europe.

Please note that numbers are limited due to the size of the classroom at ECMWF. Early registration is recommended.

Venue

Please note this meeting will be held at ECMWF and not at the University of Oxford.

ECMWF is located in Reading, UK, close to Heathrow Airport and west of central London.
