FAQs

All demonstrator SIS should be providing users with access to FAQ’s. We propose a simple format in keeping with the following:  https://cds.climate.copernicus.eu/FAQ

Minutes of Cross SIS meetings:

Meeting 4: Seasonal Forecasting Presentation

User guides and documentation:

All CII, tECV’s and demonstrators developed within the SIS contracts should be fully supported with user guides and documentation. No specific templates are prescribed, however we would like to provide examples of ‘good practice’:

EdgE POC user guides: 2015-C3S_441-LOT1 NERC SC2 D1.2.1 EDgE web user guide v2.pdf (NOTE this document is from the POC phase and includes sections that are not relevant to 422 contracts (specifically market analysis), SIS's based on the toolbox should also include sections on workflows / applications (INPUTS / OUTPUTS etc see example below) and will need to include any tools which were developed within the contract.

C3S 422 Lot 1 Global Shipping web application guidance (DEMO): D422Lot1.OSM.2.11(2) Demo web-application v0.2.docx

The User Cases should be comprised of technical documentation, including validation report, and user facing content to describe the added value of C3S / SIS developments.

An example of good practice (with templates) from the C3S 422 Lot 1 SMHI contract have been provided for your reference. Note that the example from SMHI is planned to be rolled out across SIS contracts, whereby we adopt presentation of Climate Atlas (or similar technology). SMHI have provided the following docs to support SIS User Cases presentation: Showcases in Drupal.pptx Guidance on communication - story skeleton.doc Description and Results.docx QUACK_reporting.docx

C3S 422 Lot 1 Global Impact Showcases (case studies): https://climate.copernicus.eu/global-showcases (awaiting publication)

Existing use cases on the C3S website: https://climate.copernicus.eu/data-action (note that these current case studies are not supported by additional online documentation)

Links to technical information

  1. Read the guidance above
  2. New contracts can use the following template Information_contrcat-tag_ECV-or-SIS-name_Optional-tag_yyyymmdd.docx
  3. The provider uses the Service Desk (  https://jira.ecmwf.int/servicedesk/customer/portal/5 ) to send the required information, or in the case of new contracts the template in 2. filled in (even before any files were produced, or as soon as possible, in order the CDS may evaluate if the dataset can be integrated).
  4. The CDS provides feedback in max 2 weeks time on any issues that were detected and which may prevent a smooth integration. A iterative process will start and convergence is to be expected. Otherwise, any blocking issues for the integration and delivery of the dataset through the CDS will be detected at this stage, that is  before a lot of effort was put in the production of a dataset that can not be integrated in the CDS.
