Blog from January, 2025

We are happy to announce the availability of the OPERA-SEVIRI ML/AI Fusion dataset available in the EWC. The static training dataset for AI/ML applications containing OPERA weather radar composites and the SEVIRI instrument rapid scan data interpolated to the same spatial grid as OPERA weather radar data. The data are available from 2018 to 2023 with 5 and 15 minutes time step for OPERA and SEVIRI data respectively.

The data are available in the EWC object storage (S3) buckets and are accessible from the EWC VMs (both EUMETSAT and ECMWF side) without credentials. Please consult Using EUMETSAT data buckets (fresh data pool) - European Weather Cloud Knowledge Base - ECMWF Confluence Wiki for more details.

The upgrade we had planned for this morning unfortunately failed.
We
will again attempt to upgrade the ECMWF EWC Morpheus software on Thursday 16 January, at 9:30 UTC / 10:30 CET for about one hour.

How does this affect me?

During the update window, the Morpheus user interface and APIs will not be available. However, the update does not impact existing workloads, so your VMs will be unaffected.
You may check https://status.ecmwf.int for all updates on the service status.

We apologise for the inconvenience, and thank you for your understanding

We have problems with the EUMETSAT side of the EWC, which are causing issues in discussion platform and EUMETCast Terrestrial clients. We are working to fix the issue. If you experience any problems, please tell us at https://chat.europeanweather.cloud or via support.europeanweather.cloud.

We will upgrade the ECMWF EWC Morpheus software on Wednesday 15 January, at 9:30 UTC / 10:30 CET for about one hour.

Dear all,

We’re experiencing issues with the workloads on the EUMETSAT side of EWC. As a result, most VMs are currently unreachable, and this is also affecting the deployment of new VMs.

We are actively working on resolving the issue as quickly as possible. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience.

Thank you for understanding.

Best regards,

EWC team
