Earlier this year an issue regarding point rain artefacts in our AIFS Single forecast model was identified and investigated. The underlying cause was identified and a new version of AIFS Single has been trained, which removes the point rain artefacts from the model.
This has been implemented as AIFS Single v1.1 on 31 July 2025 with the 06 UTC run.

ECMWF would like to highlight an issue identified earlier this year regarding soil moisture fields in our standard IFS forecasts.
