Online support

There is considerable help and information available online. Please see:

  • OpenIFS Documentation - online manuals for IFS and other software and tools.
  • OpenIFS User Guides - guides on how to install and use the model provided with OpenIFS.
  • How-to articles - how to do various things with OpenIFS.
  • Frequently Asked Questions - about OpenIFS on a variety of topics.
  • Known issues - known problems and solutions with different compilers and OpenIFS.
  • User Forums - post your own query here to the OpenIFS community and support team.
(Note: Following a recent Atlassian software upgrade only users with Confluence licence can create new posts. We are working on a solution for this)

OpenIFS support team

There is a small team at ECMWF to provide direct support for the OpenIFS model.

They can be contacted in the following ways (Option 1 is preferred):

  1. Raise a query (ticket) via the ECMWF Support Portal. This is the preferred method to contact support. Clicking on the link below will generate an OpenIFS-assigned query:

jira Click here to create a new OpenIFS support query

  2. Alternatively, any problems or questions with the model can also be emailed to:

    email openifs-support@ecmwf.int

We aim to reply within a working week, though during vacation periods this may be longer.

If you are a new OpenIFS user or are contacting the OpenIFS support team for the first time it would help us if you could indicate which institution your are affiliated with.
