Short Description | Global ensemble prediction system (GEPS) version 8.0. The Local Ensemble Transform Kalman Filter (LETKF) analyses remain recentered around the Ensemble Variational (EnVar) analysis but with the EnVar configuration updated to match that of the Global Deterministic Prediction System (GDPS). The version of the GEM model is upgraded to 5.2 with more advanced physics. The horizontal resolution is increased from 39km to 25km. It has improved representation of Markovian disturbance fields in the Stochastic Parameter Perturbation (SPP) and SKEB schemes, and modified SPP scheme to improve excessive dispersion in the tropics. GEPS, which has 21 members, is extended to day 39 twice a week (Monday and Thursday at 00Z). | Global ensemble prediction system (GEPS) version 7.0.
