Following the termination of the test Atos system (TEMS) in Reading in November 2021 and a lot of work by many teams across ECMWF, we are pleased to announce the availability of the first Atos cluster, named 'aa', in Bologna, for Member State users.

We invite you to start testing your activities currently running on the Cray HPCs (cca and ccb) on the first Atos system (aa). To help you with this work, we have made available the Atos HPCF Documentation. We strongly encourage you to read carefully through those pages before you start your tests on this new platform.

Note that the Atos HPCF is not yet considered operational, we therefore ask you not to start running your regular production or operational work on 'aa'. We are still working to bring the system to its final configuration, and you should expect some small changes to be implemented and certain additional elements or features to be made available gradually. Any disruption to the Atos service will be announced through the Service Status

The prepIFS environment for running IFS experiments on Atos is still under development, and is not yet ready for general use. A further announcement will be forthcoming where users will be invited to start running prepIFS experiments on Atos, and migrating their workflow from the ECGATE and Cray supercomputer. Similarly, the HARMONIE system has not been implemented on this platform yet, and would be made available by the HARMONIE system team at a later stage. Also, we are finalising the Atos user environment for Time Critical 2 activities, as well as the Time Critical 1 and ectrans and ECaccess web toolkit services.

Please watch the HPC2020: News Feed for updates on the Atos services in Bologna.

Thank you for reporting any issues or sharing your feedback via the ECMWF Support Portal mentioning 'Atos' in the title.
