If you are just beginning to explore the products available from ECMWF, the costs and what licence you might need, please start from our forecast charts and data pages. |
What do we mean by real-time forecast data?
, or 'valid' data, is all meteorological information in the form of pictures, charts, text or data files for which the verification time is in the future or less than 24 hours ago. This means that it can be used to predict the weather conditions. Include Page Real-time forecast data - definition Real-time forecast data - definition

- Access ECMWF open real-time forecast data.
- Real-time forecast , their costs and licences in the Product Requirements Catalogue or you can browse the web-based catalogue of real-time products (this is sometimes referred to as the 'shopping cart' - which term should be used? Product Requirements Catalogue). OR PEOPLE CAN BROWSE WEB-BASED CATALOGUE OF REAL-TIME PRODUCTS (question from Emma: the licence says 'products', but we're using 'data' and 'products' interchangeably - is this ok?)Forecast charts are free and available to everyone.
Other real-time
productsPlease follow the instructions on our website on how to order real-time products (but this web page doesn't refer to the Product Requirements Catalogue - I believe this page is a legacy page the next one you reference is the correct one!)
I think there is now a new page on ordering here.
BUT what I think is missing as an explanation of HOW people order the products.
Perhaps the new page 'Purchasing a licence: what happens next? ' belongs here?
forecast data
You can browse real-time forecast data to see what is available, but remember that restrictions apply so you will need to order the data.

Technical set-up
Our technical team will set up the dissemination of the data based on the information you have provided in the registration form. (There is a registration forms section here, but at what point does a user fill in this registration form - we don't have that as a step above and I am trying to write pages as step by step instructions? - At the moment, when a user has submitted a quote to the PRC, we ask them to then complete the registration form. In future, we hope that the form will be embedded into the PRC.)
We will contact you at the email you have given as single point of contact to let you know that the set-up is ready and that the dissemination can start.
Technical set-up
Our technical team will set up the dissemination of the data you subscribe based on your licence and the information you have provided in the registration form. (What registration form? Where do people get this registration from? The same as given in the cell to the left)
We will contact you at the email you have given as single point of contact to let you know that the set-up is ready and that the dissemination can start.
User name and password
You will or have received an email from ECMWF Service Desk informing you of your user name and one-time password. To reset a password, please enter your email address at following URL

Nothing. Standard Commercial and Standard NMHS licensees will not receive a user name/password. Only the first row is applicable. So users don't need userid/password to raise Jira ticket below?
