This meeting is organised by ECMWF for the OpenIFS model’s user community. It represents an opportunity for the model users to meet in person and showcase their research and to learn about new developments with OpenIFS. The aim is to foster networking and collaborations among model users.

This meeting will not be linked to any specific scientific theme. All research areas and teaching opportunities with OpenIFS will be of interest. All participants are encouraged to submit an abstract for either a contributed oral presentation or for a poster presentation. Of interest for discussion will be all OpenIFS-related work, either in research or in teaching, that has been carried out in the recent past, is happening at the current time, or is planned as future work.

We encourage ALL participants to submit an abstract (you can do this on the registration page here https://events.ecmwf.int/event/396/abstracts/).  Even if you are not yet working with the OpenIFS model it would be useful to learn about your research and how you think OpenIFS will contribute to this work.

Practical session:

The introductory practical computer session will also be run using MS Teams and Jupyter Notebooks on the European Weather Cloud.  You will only need a web browser to participate in the practicals.  The practicals are aimed at users who are new to using the OpenIFS model or who want to start using the latest version OpenIFS 48r1.

Kind regards

Marcus Köhler and Adrian Hill
