Installing OpenIFS

The following pages describe the steps necessary to ensure a successful build of OpenIFS on your computer.

OpenIFS is intended for installation and use on system external to ECMWF. We do not provide a facility to run OpenIFS for external users.

  1. Before you start, please read the Prerequisites page. OpenIFS requires a number of software packages to be available on the target computer system.

  2. Read the list of supported systems and compilers that we provide compilation details for and provide direct support.

  3. If you don't have grib_api available (or even if you do), you will need to install grib_api for OpenIFS.

  4. Then read the installation instructions followed by a test integration to verify the model works.
