What is the Product Requirements Catalogue?

The Product Requirements Catalogue (PRC) is a new application available to the public and Member States, which consists of a web interface which allows users to

  • review and cost configurations of Products from the ECMWF real-time catalogue
  • submit their final configuration to a Licensor
  • request a licence to access the ECMWF MARS Archive (commercial access)
  • request a licence to access ecCharts and Static Web Products

FAQs

What if I would like a research licence?

Research Licences

For research licences, complete the process as normal but please ensure that you add a comment to your request to indicate that you would like to be considered for a research licence.  Research licences are subject to approval by management and Handling Charges may still apply.

Your research should comply with the following definition from the ECMWF Standard Licence Agreement:

Research project: Any project organised for non-commercial research purposes only. A necessary condition for the recognition of non-commercial purposes is that all the results obtained are openly available at delivery costs only, without any delay linked to commercial objectives, and that the research itself is submitted for open publication.

  • Ongoing service provision (non-time-limited), even when free-of-charge or by non-profit organisations, do not qualify for a research licence.
  • Research licences cannot be used for commercial R&D.

I would like to amend an existing licence - is this possible?

Amending an existing licence

At present, only new licences and new quotes can be submitted via the PRC. In a future release, we hope to be able to allow amendments to existing licences.

For an amendment, you can still calculate the annual costs within the PRC, but you will need to contact your Licensor directly in order to arrange the change to the licence and delivery of new data.

Are there discounts available?

Small business discounts available

Discounts are available and described here.  If you would like to be considered for a discount, please indicate this to your chosen Licensor and be prepared to provide proof of turnover (income) if requested.
