1. Impact

Historic flooding occurred in Louisiana last week. Some areas received more than 20 inches (about 500 mm) in few days. Rainfall totals exceeded more than 3 times the normal rainfall for August. The worst rain came last Friday when some areas received more than 400 mm just in less than 24 hours. Three people have been reported dead in the floods and thousands more have been rescued. Several rivers in Louisiana and Mississippi are overflowing.
