These variables represent the total water vapour flux in the east-west (zonal) and north-south (meridional) directions and are calculated on model levels using the specific humidity and zonal and meridional winds. The model levels follow the terrain and hence mountainous regions. In the plots below, an example is shown of the eastward, northward, and the magnitude of the water vapour fluxes.
On 14th May 2018 an issue was found with these fluxes in the 45r1 e-suite. The eastward water vapour flux was archived as the northward water vapour flux; and the northward water vapour flux was archived as the eastward water vapour flux. This is currently being fixed
