NEWS!

Announcement of ECPDS migration.

Transition plan

As part of our Data Centre move we have started the installation of ECPDS, the ECMWF Production Data Store, in Bologna. ECPDS, which is described in a Newsletter article, takes care of both the dissemination and acquisition of data. As a first step to prepare for an operational ECPDS in Bologna we are now asking data providers and recipients of dissemination data to make changes to their network setup and offer some tests to assure you and ourselves that your hosts are ready for the migration day. The switch-over of the operational forecast production from Reading to Bologna is expected to happen in April 2022.

Note that the operational dissemination will continue to originate from our Reading Data Centre until its decommissioning in the second quarter of 2022.

Connectivity tests

Action required by dissemination users/sites

Please update your firewall rules at your earliest convenience to accept connections from our new IP addresses used in Bologna:

Internet:

  • 136.156.192.0/26
  • 136.156.193.0/26

RMDCN:

  • 136.156.196.0/26
  • 136.156.197.0/26

Please ensure that you keep the current firewall rules in place to allow connections from our Reading Data Centre subnets.

In the period 1 November 2021 - 31 March 2022 we will offer connectivity tests, involving the transfer of one or more files, which will be removed shortly afterwards. Two weeks in advance of a planned test we will contact users with the exact test date and further details.

Action required by ECMWF data providers
