Yes, it is possible to change your data requirements. In many cases, we need to amend your contract (Service Agreement) also known as a amendment.
Service Agreement users (July 2024 service charge model, fully open data)
Commercial users
As a Commercial user, you can make changes to your requirements if your service package allows this.
- If you have a Service Agreement with a Basic service package, you can make 2 changes to your data requirements by the Data Support Team. If you wish to change your data requirements, please contact us via the ECMWF Support Portal.
- The Bronze service package allows for 4 changes to be made to your requirements by the ECMWF Data Support Team.
- The Silver package allows for 2 changes by the ECMWF Data Support Team, however with this service pack, you have access to the Product Requirements Editor (PREd) yourself and you can make an unlimited number of additional changes to your data by yourself. Note: that it is not possible to purchase the Silver package if your volume band is either volume band 1 or 2 (you receive less than 10 GiB/day).
- The Gold package allows for 4 changes to be made for you by the ECMWF Data Support Team, but you can make unlimited changes to your data in the PREd yourself. Note: that it is not possible to purchase the Gold package, if your volume band is either volume band 1, 2 or 3 (you receive less than 100 GiB/day).
Once you have a Service Agreement with a Bronze, Silver or Gold package, it is not possible to downgrade to the Basic package.
If you are a Commercial user (Basic + Bronze), we will need a new quote that includes all your data (current data + new data) to amend your data requirements and your Service Agreement. You can provide us with such quote using our PRC (Shopping Cart).
If the change to your data requirements, means that you are exceeding the lower/upper limit of your volume band, we will need to amend the volume band associated with your contract as well.
If you wish to change your data requirements, please raise a ticket via our Support Portal. The Data Support Team will then provide you with an amended Service Agreement for signature, and will then help you to make the changes to your operational data requirements.
Please note that it can take some time before you receive the additional/new data operationally. If you know you want to add data, please let us know at least 2 weeks before you wish to receive the data operationally, such that we have the time to do this in a timely manner.
- Standard Commercial users
As a standard commercial user, you can make changes to your requirements if your service package allows this.
- If you have a licence with a Basic service package, you cannot make any changes to your data. If you wish to change your data requirements, you will need to update your service package.
- The Bronze service package allows for two changes to be made to your requirements by the ECMWF Data Support Team.
- The Silver package also allows for two changes by the ECMWF Data Support Team, but with this service change, you have access to the Product Requirements Editor (PREd) yourself and you can make 4 additional changes to your data by yourself. Note that it is not possible to buy the Silver package if your Volume Band is below 3 (you receive less than 10 GB/day).
- The Gold package allows for four changes to be made for you by the ECMWF Data Support Team, but you can make unlimited changes to your data in the PREd yourself. It is not possible to buy the Silver package if your Volume Band is below 3 (you receive less than 50 GB/day).
Once you have a licence with a Bronze, Silver or Gold package, it is not possible to downgrade to the Basic package.
If you are a standard commercial user, we will need a new quote that includes all your data. You can provide us with such a quote using our shopping cart.
If the change to your data requirements, means that you are exceeding the lower/upper limit of your volume band, we will need to amend the volume band associated with your contract as well.
If you wish to have a change to your data, please raise a ticket via our Support Portal (see Get help section in this page). The Data Support Team will then provide you with an amendment document for signature, and will then help you to make the change to your operational data.
Please note that it can take some time before you receive the additional/new data operationally. If you know you want to add data, please let us know at least 2 weeks before you wish to receive the data operationally, such that we have the time to do this properly.
- NMHSs
If you are a NMHS user, in most cases, you can make the changes yourself in the Product Requirements Editor (PREd). For more information on how to do this, please consult the User Documentation on the Product Requirements Editor.
- Standard Commercial users
As a standard commercial user, you can make a maximum of four changes per contract year to the Schedule of Products, free of any Schedule Change Fees. Additional Schedule Change Fees shall be charged for any further change to the Schedule of Products within the contract year.
- Maximum Charge Users and NMHSs
If you are a maximum charge user or an NMHS user, in most cases, you can make the change yourself in the Product Requirements Editor (PREd). For more information on how to do this, please consult the User Documentation on the Product Requirements Editor.
However, in some cases a change to your licence is required, for example, if you want to add of high-frequency products, while these are not included in your contract. In this case, please raise a ticket via our Support Portal (see Get help section in this page).
