What is the Product Requirements Editor (PREd)?

The Product Requirements Editor (PREd) is a web application used to view, configure and maintain real-time dissemination requirements.

Some users can access PREd to view their data requirements, while others also have permission to configure and modify those requirements.

Users with exclusive viewing rights on PREd are:

  • Users with the basic or bronze service package

Users with the right to view, configure and modify their requirements on PREd are:

  • ECMWF Member and Co-operating States (ECMWF members)

  • NMHS licence holders

  • Users with the silver or gold service package (new service charge model)

Access to PREd is arranged as part of your real-time forecast data delivery set up.

After you have selected the data you require by browsing the ECMWF catalogue of real-time products. Your data is installed in the Product Requirements Editor (PREd), where the requirements are validated according to what's available. Once the data has been installed, files are produced by the product generation system and arrive at the ECMWF Production Data Store (ECPDS)

Training Material

A presentation and recording providing an overview of the PREd functionalities, along with guidance on how to begin using the system once access has been granted, are available as part of PREd & ECPDS Training Course Webinars: https://events.ecmwf.int/event/462/

These materials are intended to support users in understanding how to configure and maintain their real-time data requirements within PREd and review generated products via ECPDS.
