If you're new to the
...
community hub or just exploring, we recommend you start by following the example steps here documented; no technical setup required. Use the dashboard (see Dashboard Overview) to search for Items by keyword, filter by category or technology, and review details like descriptions,
...
prerequisites, accepted inputs and usage instructions. Assess if the quality of the Item aligns with your needs, by checking the support level offered by the contributor, the last updated date, and any ratings (available only for certain Items, see "How to upvote Items I use and love?" in the EWC Community Hub Frequently Asked Questions).
When in doubt, you may also ask community members over the peer-support channel on the official discussion platform, to ask other community members about their experience with any particular Item before forming an opinion.
As quick evaluation example, consider the following user journey:
- Search for an Item name, such as "ECWMF data"
- Filter for technology by clicking on the "Ansible Playbook" checkbox
- From the short-list of hits, check the summary of the playbooks contributed by ECMWF, in search of one for installing the MARS client on VMs
- Make note of the version of the featured Item
- Click the Item to see its full description, supported customizations, links to home, owner, suitable open-source LICENSE, and whether or not is deployable (if relevant for the use-case).
If an Item that interests you is categorized as Deployable
but it does not offer easy-to-follow deployment documentation, you may find the Deploying Items page helpful to get started.
