How are data interpolated/transformed to a lower resolution grid?

The data servers and MARS can provide data at a lower resolution than that at which they were produced. Data that were originally on a grid are bi-linearly interpolated to the new grid. Spectral data are truncated to a lower spectral resolution before being transformed to the new grid.
