As the OpenIFS project and model is still relatively new and under development, we ask interested users to send a short description of their intended use of the model.

Our aim is to work closely with new users to provide good support in the implementation of the model on remote systems in order for feedback. This may, from time to time, mean that we temporarily suspend new licenses in order not to overload our support capabilities.

OpenIFS is currently licensed software.  OpenIFS is licensed per institution and requires signatures from both ECMWF and the host institution. This should not be seen as a barrier to use of OpenIFS. It is our intention to develop a less restrictive license in due course.

Licensed users are granted write access to this wiki site and can create their own 'space' under User spaces, which we encourage for sharing information with other OpenIFS user groups.

We also provide a contributors license for code written by users that we would like to include in OpenIFS or IFS.

If your use of the model requires access to ECMWF data, other than that provided as part of OpenIFS or publicly available (e.g. ERA), contact openifs-support@ecmwf.int to discuss your data requirements.

For more details, please email: openifs-support@ecmwf.int.
