Dear all,
EUMETCast Terrestrial over AMT is being upgraded to support anycast addressing on the GEANT AMT Relays. A new anycast address is now available: 62.40.96.44
This upgrade ensures automatic routing to the nearest AMT Relay, improving reliability and simplifying multicast data distribution.
🔧 For Existing Stations
All existing users should update their AMT configuration to use the new anycast address *before the end of June*. After this date, individual AMT Relay IPs will be retired.

This workflow will replace the station’s startup script to support the new anycast configuration.
🔄 For New Stations After 14th May 2025
If you are setting up a new EUMETCast Terrestrial station using the VM available on Morpheus after 14th May 2025, no action is needed — the configuration is already up to date.
If you encounter any issues just contact us via our Support Portal or discussion platform.

We’re excited to announce that HTC Batch Processing on EUMETSAT side of the EWC now supports Singularity containers!
What is Singularity?
Singularity is a widely-used container technology designed specifically for high-performance computing (HPC) and scientific workloads. Unlike traditional container platforms, Singularity focuses on portability, security, and seamless integration with existing HPC infrastructure — allowing users to package entire applications and environments into a single, portable image.
What does this mean for you?
You can now submit and run batch processing jobs to the batch processing system using your Singularity container images, alongside existing container options.

You can join the common pool of nodes deploying execute nodes that have docker and singularity available!
Dear all,
We notify you about an upcoming maintenance on the ECMWF cloud infrastructure scheduled on the following days 6, 7 and 8 May 2025 from 08:00 to 14:00 UTC each day.
The maintenance window, which is applicable to the cloud cluster in CCI1, is done in order to upgrade the version of Openstack running on the system.
During that maintenance window, there will be possible disruptions on the service APIs for up to 30 minutes.

Join us for the European Weather Cloud (EWC) User Workshop 2025, taking place in-person for the first time at ECMWF in Bologna on 18 September 2025. This full-day event, co-organised by ECMWF and EUMETSAT, will provide an opportunity to explore the latest developments, share experiences, and shape the future of the EWC.
You will find all the information in the event page, including how to register. The final agenda will be published closer to the event date.
While this workshop is intended primarily as an in-person event, online attendance will also be possible for those unable to travel. Either way, if you are planning to participate, you must register before 31 of July.
We encourage all EWC users to come forward and present their work, experiences, and use cases at the workshop. If you are interested in presenting, please contact us through the EWC Support Portal or our Discussion Platform.
Note that this year's workshop is very special — it coincides with ECMWF's 50th anniversary celebrations and will run in parallel with other key events such as the 21st ECMWF workshop on high performance computing in meteorology and Using ECMWF's Forecasts (UEF2025). On Monday, April 28, between 10:00 and 11:00 CEST, there will be a maintenance window for Keystone, Keycloak, and Horizon, where associated IPs will be upgraded in order to deploy a new High Availability configuration for internet facing systems.
In case you need to enable any firewall, the new IPs will be:

Name: horizon.cloudferro.com
Address: 194.146.60.12
Name: identity.cloudferro.com
Address: 194.146.60.13
Impact: No disruption to running workloads. Users may see intermittent issues in Morpheus when deploying, modifying, or deleting resources, and the clouds may appear “unavailable.” Users with OpenStack application credentials might also face brief connectivity issues.
No action required before or after the window. You can continue working on your VMs as usual.

The European Weather Cloud (EWC) teams at ECMWF and EUMETSAT are pleased to invite you to the second thematic EWC webinar of 2025.
It will happen on Wednesday 14 May 2025 from 08:00 to 09:00 UTC (09:00 - 10:00 BST, 10:00 - 11:00 CEST, 12:00-13:00 EEST).
These recurring thematic webinars are aimed at new or prospective users of the EWC service, provided by EUMETSAT and ECMWF, which is available to all ECMWF and EUMETSAT Member and Co-operating States. Our primary objective is to provide guidance to users on how to effectively use the different capabilities of the EWC.

In this webinar, we will focus on automating common tasks using Infrastructure as Code in the European Weather Cloud, through the recently announced Openstack API using Openstack Application Credentials in EWC.
By the end of this 1-hour session, participants will have gained a better understanding of how to use standard DevOps tools (OpenTofu, Ansible) to automate the creation of computer resources on the EWC, to query data on ECMWF (MARS) or EUMETSAT (EUMDAC).

We are pleased to announce the availability of new updated images at both ECMWF and EUMETSAT for:
- Rocky Linux 8.10
- Rocky Linux 9.5
- Ubuntu 22.04
You can already deploy the new images from Morpheus using the usual instance types. You will find more details on these images on this page: EWC Virtual Images Available
We also took advantage of this update to harmonise the instance types (and their logos!) and the layouts between ECMWF and EUMETSAT.
