This is the home page of the OpenIFS project. The overall aim of the project is to provide research institutions with a portable, easy-to-use version of the ECMWF IFS model. The OpenIFS model comprises the forecast code of IFS (no data assimilation is provided), supporting software and documentation. OpenIFS has a support team at ECMWF for technical & some scientific assistance but limited resources for detailed scientific assistance . The OpenIFS model and accompanying software is provided for use on computers external to ECMWF. We do not offer a facility for external users to run OpenIFS on ECMWF computers.
