Access the Instance tab

From the left panel go under Compute → Instances

and press the Launch Instance button.


A configuration panel is then displayed with the "*" highlighting the mandatory fields in the panel on the left-hand side

Configure the Instance

Details

Fill in at least the "Instance Name" field.

Check the supported images from the page EWC Virtual Images Available

Search for the image you want in the search bar and then press the "top arrow" button on the right-hand side to select it:

Flavor

Check the supported flavors from the page ECMWF - VM plans and flavors or EUMETSAT - VM plans and flavours 

Select one of the available flavours by pressing the "top arrow" button on the right-hand side :

Networks

Select at least one or both the following networks option :

  • private(-*) :  the VM will be connected to the private network interface of the project and a private IP will be assigned
  • external-internet: the VM will be connected to the external-internet network interface of the project and a public IP will be assigned

Note: it is also possible to just select the private network and assign a Floating IP to the VM. For more information on how to assign a Floating IP consult the page EWC Cloud Management UI - Network - Add a Floating IP

Security Groups

The Security Group define rules for the ingress and egress traffic of the VM. The pre-defined security groups available are :

  • ssh : allow ingress ssh traffic
  • ssh-(http-)https : allow ingress ssh traffic and https/http traffic

Key Pair

Make sure your own key pair is selected, in order to have access to the Virtual Machine.

Launch the Instance creation

Once the configuration is complete press the "Launch Instance" button.

The build of the new Instance starts immediately. After a short time, the new Instance can be seen with Power State Running under the Instances tab.
