On this space we collect material for evaluation of severe/extreme weather events. The focus is on the meteorological conditions and the forecast performance. The amount of material differs from case to case, and we are not claiming to give the full picture of the cases here. 201809 - Rainfall - Zorbas
On 26 September the Medicane Zorbas made landfall  close to Kalmata on the south-western coast of Greece, and caused heavy rainfall in the country. The prediction of the cyclone was associated with large uncertainties regarding the path and intensity.

201809 - Tropical cyclone - Florence
Hurricane Florence made landfall in  North Carolina on 14 September as a category 1 hurricane. The cyclone brought torrential rainfall as it became quasi-stationary for a few days. At least 26 people was killed due to the cyclones.

201810 - Rainfall - Spain
On 9 October torrential rainfall hit parts of Majorca and killed at least 10 people. Locally more than 200 mm of rain was reported.
