The TIGGE dataset (The International Grand Global Ensemble) consists of ensemble forecast data from thirteen global NWP centres, starting from October 2006. TIGGE was established as a key component of THORPEX: a World Weather Research Programme to accelerate the improvements in the accuracy of 1-day to 2 week high-impact weather forecasts for the benefit of humanity. Although the 10-year THORPEX program ended at the end of 2014, TIGGE has continued and the next five-year phase of the archive (2024–2028) is currently underway.
While TIGGE data is available free of charge, TIGGE users are strongly encouraged to publicise all of their research articles and applications that use any aspect of TIGGE data by contacting the Support Portal: https://support.ecmwf.int
The data access to TIGGE is now being migrated from Web-API to CDS-API. For more information about the timelines, please consult the dedicated page Decommissioning of ECMWF Public Datasets service.
